foreign [Music] multiple conversations with different people today about prioritization it's on people's minds so I figured I had touch base here about it how do you get other people to prioritize the way you do um how do you prioritize yourself these conversations keep coming up so a couple things that came up out of the discussions today that I thought could be helpful for people to think about one the way that works for you to manage time and prioritize may not work for your team member your teammate your boss or somebody else that you're trying to help to teach to prioritize we think differently and we work differently so somebody may work really well in technology and another needs pen and paper so just showing them your Technique and teaching them and telling them to do it likely won't work they're going to need to find their own way and method that works for them that doesn't mean don't show them your method you should absolutely show them your method and you should expose them to other methods so they can take what they like and leave the rest and pick the methods or the pieces of the methods that work for them so that's one thing don't impart your method of time management on somebody else it lightly likely won't work well two the best thing to figure out is what's causing prioritization or time management issues sometimes it's just the inability to prioritize effectively not sure what's important what's urgent and needing to ask questions around that so how do you figure out what is urgent what are some of the factors that can be used to decide that sometimes though people look like they have terrible time management or prioritization but the real issue is they're not passionate about parts of what they do so what's happening is they're doing what's fun and exciting first and what they dread last it looks like terrible time management but it's not really the real root cause is having things that are part of the day that either are difficult and challenging for them or less exciting for them so before you decide you have a time management problem I encourage you to get to the root of it is it prioritization is it time management is it things people don't like to do it's things people find challenging so they put them off till the end of the day and when you can sort through what the real problem is then you can help by potentially teaching techniques to do it better or maybe even offloading certain aspects of someone's worker job to someone who is more passionate about them or who's better skilled for them so the person's actually spending time on things that they're happier about more passionate about um and are more effective at and then you get an even bigger bang for your buck so when you see a time management issue get to the root cause and then look for the solutions that best fit the true problem it's not always a methodology or a quick solution [Music]
