May is mental health awareness month and it is the most important thing near and dear to my heart. I'm so passionate about helping others in their mental health. And my background in small business has been in the health and wellness space for 22 years and helping people take the next right step. And now as a CEO coach and getting to work with leaders and business owners, CEOs, incredible humans who are making a difference in the world, I really want to take a minute and talk about mental health in the workplace. I'm going to share an article this week, but I found this so interesting about what Americans share about mental health at work. The total workforce in this article shared that, you know, nearly three and four felt comfortable talking about their physical health, but less than six and 10 ft that they could share about their mental health. For those that say they they feel uncomfortable discussing mental health, the top five reasons include stigma or judgment around mental health, lack of discussion from colleagues, not wanting to be appear, fear of losing opportunities or retaliation, and that their job is a main factor affecting their mental health. What would happen if as leaders we created an environment where people can share how they feel, not have to sweep it under the rug, not have to bury in it. I work on my own mental health every day. And I want to create a community of people who can do the same. If people feel good and can be who they are, imagine the productivity and what's possible. So, as leaders, I would love to hear from you. How do you foster an environment that supports mental health in your organization, on your team, and in your community? Thank you so much for sharing, and we're really going to be talking a lot about this this month.
