[Music] talent is just about the greatest challenge any organization is facing right now and it's very hard to find people and i hear it commonly from businesses just having a hard time attracting the right people getting people there's just not enough people out there and you know they'll tell me how great of a culture they are what a wonderful place it is to work and the question i ask is is your culture written down and how do people who are interested in coming to work for you learn about it if you're going to learn about it in the interview process it's too late if it's not written in a way and advertised all over as to who you are what you are and why you exist then you are missing out on a critical opportunity to attract talent so what do i mean by that i do not mean advertising your benefits i do not mean talking about all the social gatherings you have or don't have i mean the specific day-to-day culture of what it's like to work live and breathe at your company how do people handle things when there is something positive that happens or how do they handle things when a negative situation occurs what is it like to work there on a day-to-day basis capture those stories from your team members get them written down find ways to communicate what the day-to-day looks like and over communicate it in your job postings any descriptions on your website that's the culture and that culture will turn people away that you don't want you'll save yourself time interviewing and it will attract people you really do want which will also save you time and help bring some of the right people to you so define your culture who is it why do you exist what does the day-to-day look like get those things written down and then put them out there everywhere you can communicate them so it makes it easy on potential applicants to know who you are and to decide they're fit or they're not a fit and to self-select so that you only have the right fits coming to your door and it's easier to attract them and slack them you
