in this day and age our attention is constantly divided with so many things going on in the world that we're trying to balance and integrate and in the digital age we're constantly connected to something that's not in front of us in the moment um so when we're in a zoom meeting or even in person um your watch is buzzing something is going on that easily helps you be distracted from the person you're engaged with we all say time is one of the greatest gifts you can give but it's not really time because I can be having lunch with you or have a zoom meeting with you for a half hour well I'm giving you my time if I'm not really present with you well then I'm not truly giving of my time and when I say present I don't mean like physically present but mentally engaged and present if you're distracted thinking about what you got to cook for dinner or all the things you got to do back at the house or you know in any way dividing your attention from the moment you're in um it's really hard to really give that gift presents and by the way no human's perfect at this there's no one who does this 100% of the time there's no one who probably even does this 50% of the time the reality is just trying to be just a little bit better about this every day because the impact on the person you're with the value of the conversations the value of the relationships you can build the more you can do do for one another being truly present with one another whether it's a family member a friend a business colleague or a new relationship um working relationship it makes a difference it's impactful on them impactful on you and the depth which you go and the trust with that you build so think about and reflect on how are you dividing your attention not just your time how are you prioritizing it how do you focus more and what can you give to the next com conv Sation you have um how do you give 1% just 1% more of your attention and focus to have more impact and a more impactful relationship and conversation [Music]
